Members, family and friends gathered at East Point Pavilion on 11th May for an evening of nostalgia, fun, and for many of the younger participants, an introduction to the competitive world of Beetle Drive!
If you, like many of our younger Clubbies are unfamiliar with Beetle Drive, it's a fast-paced dice rolling game. Each number on the dice represents a part of a beetle (head, body, legs, antenna) and the aim of the game is, taking turns with all the players in your team, to roll the dice as many times as needed and as quickly as possible to draw your beetle. The first person to draw their beetle shouts 'beetle' and is awarded points, and points make prizes! This is probably not the best description of the game, so if you're curious, there's loads of YouTube videos explaining it better!
The evening was great fun and got members of all ages involved. Our Beetle Drive champion was Mandy Stevens, with Sally Owen a close runner up. The wooden spoon was awarded to Kevin Read. There was also a tombola with some lovely prizes. The evening raised a total of £124 for the Club and thanks go to Karen Ayers for all her hard work organising it and Nick Ayers for being a superb compere for the evening.
